Grapefruit, Pink (Citrus Paradisi)

Grapefruit Essential Oil is present in its peel and extracted by cold compression. Grapefruit is a hybrid between Pomelo and Sweet Orange.   Many of its medicinal properties match those of the essential oils of other citrus fruits. It’s benefits are energizing and purifying. Grapefruit has a high vitamin C content and is therefore valuable to the immune system.  It helps protect against colds and flu, has a very positive effect on obesity. It has excellent diuretic properties, helping to remove excess water from the body and is therefore also great for treating cellulite.   This is one reason why it’s included in many cellulite creams and blends that are used for dry brushing.   Grapefruit Essential Oil is a great air freshener and can by used in a spray everywhere in your household where moldy and nasty odors persist. Disinfecting surfaces:  you can use a small amount of grapefruit essential oil on wooden surfaces, countertops, floors or in household appliances to kill bacteria and odor naturally.  Like the essential oils of most citrus fruits, grapefruit essential oil has an uplifting and relaxing effect on mind. It induces positive feelings of hope, cures depression, and relieves anxiety and stress. This effect comes from two sources. First, due to its aroma and second, due to its stimulating effects of certain hormones that have uplifting effects on the brain. Grapefruit oil is known to lower sugar cravings  when you inhale it directly. Sniff the oil directly from the bottle whenever your cravings hit, or try creating a natural supplement using several drops in water or tea that you can drink throughout the day.

Another benefit of grapefruit oil is that it has antifungal abilities and is able to reduce yeast and bacteria that are responsible for causing candida virus symptoms, a common condition affecting gut health that can cause cravings.  Grapefruit is also used to kill skin or internal bacteria and fungus, fight mold growth, kill parasites in animal feeds, preserve food, and disinfect water.
