Basil, Holy (Ocimum Sanctum)

Holy basil essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the fragrant leaves and the color is golden yellow.

The aroma of Holy Basil is rich, warm, spicy and herbaceous.

In India Holy Basil is known as Tulsi. It is a sacred plant in Hinduism, which is used for purification of the mind and body, as well as heightening spiritual awareness. Holy Basil essential oil is known to balance and align the entire body’s “energy field.”

The use of Holy Basil is recorded in ancient Ayurvedic texts and it is also called the “Elixir of Life“.
It is a tonic with adaptogenic properties, meaning that Tulsi can be stimulating or sedating, depending on the body’s needs. It has been promoted for longevity.

It is one of the most effective essential oils for boosting the immune system as it protects the body from infections, viruses, bacteria, and protozoa.
